It was an awe inspiring day in Big Sur, California, as I had the honor of capturing this intimate elopement at Glen Oaks Big Sur and portraits at Garrapata State Park for sunset. The setting could not have been more perfect, with majestic redwoods surrounding us and a beautiful golden sunset along the California coastline serving as our backdrop.
As I pulled up to Glen Oaks Big Sur, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of calm wash over me. The redwoods stood tall and proud, creating a natural cathedral for the ceremony. The couple, so sweet and tender with each other, radiated a calming love that filled the air. It was clear that this day was truly all about them and their love for each other.
I approached the day with an intentionality and thoughtfulness, wanting to capture every moment in a way that truly showcased the love and connection between them. We started with photos in their cabin, where they got ready together along with their friend and officiant – which I think is always such a perfect way to start the story of your day.
Next we walked a treelined path to the ceremony where I focused on capturing the true candid emotions, from sweet glances and tearful exchanges to laughter and joy. It was such a reminder of how much these two deeply love each other.
After the ceremony, we made our way to Garrapata State Park for sunset portraits. The California coastline stretched out before us, offering a stunning view that only added to the magic of the day. As the couple posed against the backdrop of the setting sun, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to be a part of such a special moment in their lives.
And as I look back on this Big Sur elopement, I am reminded of the beauty of true connection. From the intimate ceremony among the redwoods to the breathtaking sunset portraits, every moment was one you could feel. And I am so grateful to have been able to capture this day in a way that will allow them to relive their day for years to come.
