Willa & Scott
This one was truly something else. At home, backyard weddings will always have a special place in my heart. They bring a certain comfort and they’re full of so much extra special meaning and nostalgia. This day took place at Willa’s childhood home. A place that already holds so many memories and there was evidence of that around every corner. Walls and nooks were covered with framed photos of moments past. It was incredible to see the thoughtful displays of the love this family has already shared. And to know that my photos of this day would soon adorn some of these spaces and be cherished for years to come is such a special feeling. The morning leading up was full of eager anticipation and both Willa and Scott’s best peeps showed up big, offering heaps of love and support. And to say the ceremony was full of thoughtful intention is an understatement. They both took the care to incorporate individualized details while exchanging their vows. A photo a day on her iPhone is something that Willa has regularly practiced over the past couple of years. And to her surprise, Scott snapped a selfie of them with everyone after his vows. I just love the overwhelming joy on her face in that moment, pure happiness. The rest of the evening continued with a line up of tear jerker toasts and an overflow of happy tears under the setting sun. And when it came time for the dance floor no one was messing around. It was serious fun business all night long. If there was a rug it would have been cut to shreds. What a day to remember as your own. I’m so happy that I got to be a small part of it and contribute in a way that will bring them right back to it whenever they want.
